2024 Wrap Up

2024 was a year of transitions, growth, and unforgettable memories. It began with the culmination of my MBA journey and my final internship at Walt Disney World Costuming and Cosmetology—an experience that was nothing short of incredible. I had the opportunity to develop an innovative data collection process, create automated Tableau reports that provided critical insights to both front-line teams and executive leadership, and improve operational efficiency with a space analysis that increased storage capacity by 130%. This internship solidified my passion for operations and data, paving the way for my new role at H-E-B as a Store Inventory Management Systems Analyst 1—a career milestone I’ve been working toward for years since leaving the zoological field.

Returning to Texas marked another significant chapter as Reem and I celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary. We took a step toward a deeper connection with nature by moving to a new home in Austin, a change that has already brought us so much peace. Our family also grew when we adopted Feyre, our sweet dog. While Merlin, our cat, is still adjusting to the new dynamic, our home is now filled with even more love and laughter.

This summer was filled with adventure and connection. I went on a girls’ trip to Destin with Hailey and Becca, two of my best friends from college, and made a new friend, Tori, who made the trip even more special. Later, a lifelong dream came true when I traveled to Europe for the first time with my Fish House best friends, Juliette and Bronwyn. We explored the magic of Paris while staying with Juliette’s grandmother and experienced the thrill of seeing Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in London. It was a whirlwind of joy, laughter, and unforgettable bonding moments.

Professionally, 2024 has been the year I stepped into the career I’ve always dreamed of, and personally, I’ve made room for self-care. I’ve biked nearly 50 miles each week at CycleBar, which has been incredible for my mental health. I also rediscovered my love for reading, finishing 46 books this year—each one offering a new perspective and a moment of calm amidst the chaos.

While Panoramic Ocean took a back seat this year to make room for so many big life changes, our team is focused on the future and maximizing our community impact. To everyone who has supported Panoramic Ocean, thank you for believing in our mission to create a brighter future for our oceans.

Just keep swimming.

2024 was a year of grounding myself—in my career, my relationships, and my passions. Despite the personal wins, the weight of global hardships has been ever-present, serving as a reminder to stay resilient and continue fighting the good fight. As Kamala Harris so beautifully said, "Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars," and I’ve found that even in challenging times, there’s always a glimmer of hope and possibility.
